Circle has acquired IBM’s blockchain patent portfolio, making Circle the largest blockchain patent holder in the United States, according to The Block.

The deal includes more than 680 patent families and nearly 1,000 issued patents.

The Block says the portfolio acquisition strengthens Circle’s blockchain intellectual property position in the US.
