Phantom will end Monad support on Aug. 26, prompting user migration
The wallet said Monad assets will remain accessible after the cutoff via recovery-phrase import, while MetaMask said it will cover migrating users' gas fees.
Phantom will end support for the Monad network on Aug. 26, according to the wallet company’s post on X. The move comes about nine months after Monad’s Nov. 24, 2025 mainnet launch.
Phantom said it will begin notifying Monad users in-app with links to options to move or swap Monad-native assets. Because Phantom is self-custodial, users can still access Monad holdings after Aug. 26 by importing their recovery phrase into another wallet that supports the chain.
The deadlines differ from Monad’s own post, which said Phantom support ends Aug. 12 and urged users to migrate before that date. Monad pointed users to a documentation list of supported wallets, while MetaMask responded that it is covering gas fees for users moving to MetaMask.
MetaMask said it has been building on Monad since June, when it launched a yield-bearing Money Account with a linked card exclusively on the chain. The timing also coincides with Phantom adding Robinhood Chain in the app a day before the Monad announcement, and Monad’s token trades around $0.0205, down 1.3% over the past 24 hours and 9.3% on the week, per CoinGecko.
