Roblox executive’s IRA reportedly holds at least $68 million in shares
The 61-year-old Gregory Baszucki accumulated roughly two million Roblox shares in a Roth IRA before the company went public and reportedly avoided federal capital-gains tax after selling about a third of his stake post-debut.
Yahoo Finance reports that Gregory Baszucki, the brother of Roblox founder and CEO and a longtime board member, reportedly holds at least $68 million in retirement accounts, including Roblox stock.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Baszucki accumulated about two million Roblox shares in a Roth IRA before the company went public, then sold about a third of his stake after the debut when share prices rose.
The report says he was able to use sales from inside the retirement account to avoid a federal capital-gains tax, taking advantage of tax benefits associated with IRAs and workplace plans.
Yahoo Finance also notes that the number of people with very large IRA balances has increased, citing that more than 1,000 people held at least $25 million in 2024, and about 11,600 had $10 million or more, based on the Wall Street Journal.
