Gotham Organization hands more leadership to Picket siblings
Gotham said it has 3,700 units under management and that Nicole Picket oversees refinancings, recapitalizations, and dispositions.
Commercial Observer profiles the Picket family, which has run the Gotham Organization, an owner, developer, operator, and investment manager, since 1912, with the company saying it has kept leadership within the family rather than bringing in outsiders. CEO David Picket said the firm follows a long-term approach focused on fairness with lenders and partners and respect for tenants. The outlet reports that his three children, Matthew, Nicole, and Ben Picket, each hold roles in the business, with Matthew and Nicole recently taking on more senior leadership responsibilities.
Matthew Picket is described as a principal focused on driving Gotham’s development pipeline and expanding into new markets including South Florida. Nicole Picket is also a principal who oversees refinancings, recapitalizations, and dispositions of existing assets, and she is involved in pursuing growth through multifamily acquisitions, including work tied to Gotham’s 2024 acquisition of the Aire at 200 West 67th Street in a $265 million joint venture with Carlyle Group.
Ben Picket, who is working toward an MBA at Columbia University, is Gotham’s director of strategic operations, where he focuses on technology initiatives across the portfolio such as integrating artificial intelligence and data infrastructure to improve the resident experience. Commercial Observer also reports that Gotham’s portfolio is made up of multifamily, mixed-use, and retail assets across New York and has expanded into Florida, with 3,700 units currently under management.
