PayPal grows stablecoin and AI payments focus in Q2 results

The company posted $8.68 billion in Q2 revenue and reported an $81 million non-GAAP crypto-related adjustment tied to strategic investments and crypto assets held for investment.

PayPal highlighted stablecoins and AI-driven, payment-focused tools as part of its strategy in its second-quarter update, while noting that crypto assets continued to play a role in how earnings are reconciled on a non-GAAP basis, according to Cointelegraph. For the quarter, PayPal reported earnings of $1.26 per share, down from $1.30 in the same period last year and slightly below the $1.28 estimate cited by Cointelegraph. Revenue rose to $8.68 billion from $8.29 billion a year earlier, beating analyst consensus of $8.47 billion. PayPal also recorded an $81 million non-GAAP adjustment related to gains and losses from strategic investments and crypto assets held for investment. The company said it excludes those items from non-GAAP results because it does not actively trade those assets or rely on them to fund ongoing operations. In its Q2 investor materials, PayPal said it is expanding into agentic payments, stablecoins, identity and biometric technologies, leveraging its payments network and risk, trust, and infrastructure capabilities. It also stated its PayPal World platform facilitated about $200 million in total payment volume between Venmo and PayPal.
