Visa details stablecoin push across payments, deposits, and OpenUSD

The company said its fiscal third-quarter revenue rose 14% year over year to $11.6 billion, alongside 13% growth in cross-border volume.

Visa outlined a broader stablecoin strategy during its fiscal third-quarter earnings call, saying it is investing across multiple layers of the stablecoin ecosystem.

The payments company highlighted its OpenUSD approach through the OpenStandard consortium, which plans to issue the OpenUSD stablecoin for global money movement. Visa also described a stablecoin platform meant to help partners settle with Visa in stablecoins, provide wallet-as-a-service infrastructure, and move value between fiat currencies and stablecoins, beginning with OpenUSD.

Visa said the platform will integrate with Pismo to support tokenized deposits for financial institutions, with plans to add additional third-party tokenized deposit infrastructure providers in the future. The company also framed stablecoins and artificial intelligence as complementary technologies.

In parallel with the stablecoin discussion, Visa reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $11.6 billion, up 14% from the prior year. According to the earnings release, cross-border volume rose 13% year over year, or 12% excluding intra-Europe, while processed transactions increased 10%.
