Dow Jones futures edge higher as traders await Fed decision
Traders are pricing a 31.5% chance of an immediate Fed rate hike, alongside a nearly 79.0% probability of a move in September.
US index futures were mixed in early trading Wednesday, with Dow Jones futures up 0.11% to around 53,000, S&P 500 futures rising 0.16% near 7,480, and Nasdaq 100 futures down 0.17% to about 27,870.
FXStreet said the cautious tone reflected uncertainty ahead of a Federal Reserve policy decision, with expectations that rates could stay unchanged. Despite that baseline, traders are pricing a 31.5% chance of an immediate rate hike and a nearly 79.0% probability of a rate increase in September.
The same report also pointed to renewed Middle East hostilities as a factor weighing on sentiment. It cited a US military assessment of a surprise Iranian attack on American troops, followed by drone strikes by Iran-backed militias on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region, with the full damage unclear.
During Tuesday’s regular session, the Dow Jones and S&P 500 rose 1.03% and 0.21%, respectively, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.22%. FXStreet also noted company specific moves, including Ford Motor’s surge after exceeding financial estimates and raising its 2026 outlook, while SK Hynix fell despite record quarterly profits that missed Wall Street expectations.
