Safe smart accounts process nearly 130M transactions in Q2 record

Safe recorded 5.7% quarterly growth from Q1 to nearly 130 million transactions, even as the broader market weakened.

Safe smart accounts processed nearly 130 million transactions in the second quarter, the highest quarterly total in the protocol’s history and 5.7% higher than Q1, according to The Defiant citing the Safe Ecosystem Foundation’s Q2 2026 report published Wednesday.

The report said total Safe accounts reached 63.4 million, up 20% year over year, and monthly active accounts rose through the quarter to 2.73 million in June. It also found April was Safe’s busiest month ever, with 55.4 million transactions, while transfer volume totaled $39.3 billion in Q2, up 8% year over year.

Safe accounts held $27.24 billion in self-custodied assets at quarter end, including $6.48 billion in stablecoins, and the Safe project generated $1.98 million in revenue, up 42% year over year. The foundation described the results as evidence of usage compounding independently of token price.

The Defiant also reported that Safenet Beta, Safe’s transaction security network launched on April 2, had 54.8 million SAFE staked across 539 stakers and had checked more than 500,000 Safe transactions as of Tuesday, per the foundation’s dashboard. Separately, following the April KelpDAO exploit, Safe smart accounts were used by an Aave-led DeFi United group to coordinate roughly $300 million, with more than 142,000 wallets participating over three weeks, the report said.
