Liberty Specialty Markets adds energy, power, and construction risk engineers

The new hires are based in London for energy and power, and in Dubai for construction, expanding LSM’s risk engineering coverage across the UK and MENA.

Liberty Specialty Markets, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced appointments to strengthen its risk engineering team in the energy, power, and construction lines across the UK and MENA.

Richard Mundy has been named Principal Risk Engineer for energy, based in London and tasked with managing an expanding global client portfolio focused on complex upstream, downstream, and construction energy risks. Mundy reports to Paddy Lisulo, UK and MENA Risk Engineering Manager, and previously worked at bp and Starr Companies.

Taz Chowdhury was appointed Risk Engineer for power, also based in London, supporting the power line of business across UK and MENA through risk appraisals, engineering surveys, and technical input on claims. LSM says Chowdhury brings nearly seven years of engineering experience across the UK, MENA, APAC, and Europe, including recent work as Senior Plant Equipment Engineer for the Rolls-Royce Small Modular Nuclear Reactor.

Sam McLachlan joins as Risk Engineer for construction, based in Dubai and providing technical risk engineering support to LSM’s MENA construction team. The insurer said his hands-on experience on complex international construction projects will help support underwriting for the MENA construction portfolio, with McLachlan reporting to Sean Pearson, Underwriting Manager and Construction Regional Product Leader.
