PartnerRe reports $447 million net income in first half 2026
The reinsurer said its non-life combined ratio was 85.1% and it grew gross premiums written 4% year over year to $5.42 billion.
PartnerRe, a Bermuda-based reinsurer, reported net income of $447 million for the first half of 2026, with return on equity of 8.1%. The company said its non-life combined ratio came in at 85.1% during the period.
Total revenues for H1 2026 fell 15.5% year over year to $4.10 billion from $4.86 billion in H1 2025. PartnerRe attributed the decline largely to investment market fluctuations, with net realized and unrealized investment results swinging to a $362.6 million loss from a $597.7 million gain a year earlier.
Even with the investment volatility, PartnerRe reported underwriting performance remained strong. Gross premiums written rose 4% year over year to $5.42 billion, including $4.10 billion in non-life and $1.32 billion in Life and Health, while recurring net investment income increased 15.8% to $491.1 million.
PartnerRe said its non-life business produced an underwriting profit of $396 million, including $190 million from Property and Casualty with a combined ratio of 88.9%, and $206 million from Specialty with a combined ratio of 78.4%. Its Life and Health segment generated a net allocated underwriting profit of $76 million, and the company reported total expenses declined 18% year over year to $3.55 billion.
