Aixtron second-quarter revenue jumps on AI data-center optoelectronics

Orders totaled €215 million in the quarter, with optoelectronics making up 75% of demand as the company targets strong throughput into late 2026 and 2027.

Aixtron reported a sharp rebound in second-quarter performance, driven primarily by optoelectronics demand tied to AI data-center equipment. According to the company, it received €215 million in new orders during the quarter, and optoelectronics accounted for 75% of those orders.

Revenue rose to €115 million in Q2 from €59 million in Q1. The company said EBIT returned to a €15 million profit, and free cash flow reached €114 million, while noting revenue was still down 16% versus the prior-year period.

Aixtron said its outlook for 2026 remains unchanged, reaffirming revenue guidance of €560 million, plus or minus €30 million. Management also pointed to demand strength expected through late 2026 and into 2027, citing a shift away from copper links toward 800G optical connectivity and beyond.

The company described the recovery as uneven across end markets, with silicon carbide, gallium nitride power electronics, and LED or Micro LED remaining more cautious. Aixtron also said it has begun construction of a new Malaysia facility to expand manufacturing capacity, aligning with capacity-expansion commitments it is seeing in the market, according to Yahoo Finance.
