Ferguson Enterprises set to join the S&P 500, shares jump more than 8%

The Newport News, Virginia industrial supplier is replacing another company in the index, with its stock up about 8.0% on the change announcement.

Ferguson Enterprises is set to be added to the S&P 500, according to MarketWatch, and the stock moved sharply higher after the index inclusion news.

MarketWatch said the company is based in Newport News, Virginia, and that its shares were rallying more than 8% as investors priced in the S&P 500 addition.

The outlet reported that Ferguson will be included by edging out a different, less familiar name as part of the index update.
