Verizon highlights subscriber growth and a 6.7% dividend yield

The telecom reported 184,000 postpaid phone net additions in the quarter and lowered postpaid churn to 0.84%, supporting confidence in its cash flow outlook.

Verizon Communications is positioning itself as an income-focused stock, pointing to a 6.7% dividend yield among large-cap U.S. companies and a record of dividend increases for 21 consecutive years. Yahoo Finance also ties the investment appeal to the company reporting another strong quarter last week.

Beyond the payout, Verizon pointed to business momentum that can support recurring cash flow. In the quarter, Verizon added 184,000 postpaid phone net additions, and postpaid net additions improved by 537,000 year over year in the first six months of 2026.

For broadband, Verizon added 348,000 broadband subscribers in Q2, bringing total mobility and broadband net additions to more than 550,000 customers. Verizon also said it remains on track to end the year with more than 32 million fiber passings, while its consumer postpaid phone churn rate fell to 0.84% in the quarter from 0.90% in Q1.

On guidance, Yahoo Finance said Verizon believes it is on track to reach the upper half of its full-year target range of 750,000 to 1 million net additions. The article frames subscriber growth and churn trends as key drivers of long-term cash generation for telecom operators.
