HDFC Mid Cap Fund crosses ₹1 trillion in AUM

Launched in June 2007, the scheme reported a 17.13% CAGR and says it typically keeps turnover near 5% to 20%.

HDFC Mid Cap Fund has crossed ₹1 trillion in assets under management in June 2026, becoming the third scheme from HDFC Mutual Fund to reach that milestone after HDFC Flexi Cap Fund and HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund, LiveMint Markets reports. The fund also described itself as the largest among products that invest predominantly in lower market caps, with the milestone coming as it enters its 20th year.

The article says the fund launched in June 2007, and since then has delivered a compound annual growth rate of 17.13%, outperforming its benchmark. It also states that as of June 2026, the fund had ₹1 trillion AUM, while the second-largest mid-cap fund scheme in the category had ₹67,600 crore.

HDFC Mid Cap Fund is managed by Chirag Setalvad, head of equities at HDFC AMC, since the scheme’s inception, according to the piece. It is mandated to invest at least 65% of its assets in equity and equity-related instruments of mid-sized companies, defined as those ranking 101st to 250th by full market capitalization.

The fund follows a bottom-up approach and a buy-and-hold strategy, the article adds, aiming to avoid unnecessary portfolio changes and not chase momentum. It also says the fund typically runs a low turnover ratio of around 5% to 20%, reflecting long-term stock-selection conviction.
