AMD to report Q2 earnings Tuesday as chip stocks cool
Analysts expect AMD to post $1.62 in EPS on $11.3 billion of revenue, after last year’s quarter of $0.48 EPS and $7.6 billion in sales.
Advanced Micro Devices will report second-quarter earnings after the bell on Tuesday, as investors weigh renewed volatility across the chip sector, according to Yahoo Finance.
Chip stocks have pulled back since mid-June, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up more than 100% over the past year but down about 20% as of midday Friday, the outlet said, citing AlphaSpace data. AMD shares have risen 194% over the last 12 months, helped by demand for AI agents that rely on CPUs.
AMD’s product momentum includes the company’s Helios rackscale platform for AI data centers, launched late last month. Yahoo Finance said the system includes 72 AMD MI455X GPUs plus Instinct CPUs and is designed to compete with Nvidia’s Blackwell and Rubin-based rack-scale offerings.
Consensus expectations call for AMD to earn $1.62 per share on $11.3 billion in revenue, versus $0.48 EPS on $7.6 billion in the prior year quarter. The outlet also cited forecasts that AMD’s data center revenue could rise to $6.5 billion, up from $3.2 billion in Q2 2025, while the client segment is expected to reach $3.0 billion, up 20%, and gaming revenue is projected at $781 million, down 30%.
