US stock index futures rise after Trump calls off Iran attack

Nasdaq-100 futures gained about 0.3% and S&P 500 futures rose about 0.6% as oil prices eased and Treasurys moved higher ahead of major earnings and Friday’s jobs report.

US stock index futures climbed at the start of August as market sentiment improved after President Trump said he called off a planned attack against Iran. According to Yahoo Finance, the move was linked to efforts to negotiate a deal aimed at opening the Strait of Hormuz, and the news helped ease pressure across related markets.

Futures tied to the Nasdaq-100 rose by about 0.3%, while S&P 500 futures gained about 0.6%. Contracts for the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased about 1% after a volatile July that nonetheless ended on a strong note, per Yahoo Finance.

The broader setup for markets this week also includes a heavy earnings calendar, with Palantir Technologies due to report Monday and investors looking ahead to SpaceX’s first quarterly report since going public. Additional indicators on Monday include S&P Global’s Purchasing Managers’ Index and the ISM Manufacturing Index, with Friday’s US jobs report expected to show further employment gains in July, the outlet said.
