Meta forecasts lower Q3 revenue amid heavy AI capex
Meta guided third-quarter revenue to $61 billion to $64 billion, with a $62.5 billion midpoint below analysts’ expectations.
Meta Platforms’ shares faced selling pressure after the company issued a softer-than-expected revenue outlook for the third quarter, highlighting investor concern over the timing of returns from its large AI spending.
According to Yahoo Finance, Meta expects Q3 revenue between $61 billion and $64 billion, and the midpoint of $62.5 billion came in below analysts’ forecasts, even as it continues to direct major capital toward data centers, networking infrastructure, and advanced AI chips.
The outlet also notes that the company’s latest results were described as mixed for Q2, with the weaker tone tied to elevated capital expenditures for AI and a forecast that signaled slower near-term growth.
Yahoo Finance said investors are also weighing ongoing legal and regulatory risks, including antitrust scrutiny and evolving privacy rules, while pointing to Meta’s still-strong digital advertising business, including advertising revenue from its Family of Apps, as a key source of cash support.
