Hong Kong police say romance scam used a fake crypto app to steal $3.3M
Hong Kong police say an insurance agent was targeted by a romance scam that directed the victim to a fake crypto investment app.
According to The Block, the probe found the victim lost more than $3.3 million after being lured into the scheme.
Police characterized the incident as a romance scam that involved counterfeit crypto investment activity through the fraudulent application, resulting in the substantial financial loss.
