Ageas Re to shift to regional structure from September 2026

The Brussels-based reinsurer will reorganize into EMEA P&C, Americas P&C, and International & Specialty, while aligning regional and Products & Practices leaders under its chief underwriting officer.

Ageas Re, the Brussels-headquartered reinsurer, will adopt a regional organization structure starting September 1, 2026, as it seeks to improve client proximity and accessibility to its services, Chief Executive Officer Joachim Racz said. Under the plan, Ageas Re will add three regions, EMEA P&C, Americas P&C, and International & Specialty, positioned alongside its Products & Practices division. EMEA P&C will be led by Anne Deister, supported by Gilles Marchal as Lead Underwriter Property South/West and Noël Ammann as Lead Underwriter Casualty EMEA, with Deister also initially combining several existing roles. Jeremy Walker, the reinsurer’s Chief Underwriting Officer, will lead the Americas P&C region.

For International & Specialty, Christoph Spichtig will lead, with support from Regional Director Asia Matthew Tong and heads of the firm’s specialty lines. These include Shahrokh Shahpoori for Engineering, Michael Rüegger for Agriculture, and Sylvie Hirn and Jeremy Lilburn for Credit & Bond, while Ageas Re said the vacancy for International Casualty remains open.

Ageas Re also outlined management changes, including splitting its CFRO role into an enlarged CFO function led by Jerome Carré and a dedicated CRO function led by Dimitri Terryn. The CRO onboarding is scheduled to align with the closing of Ageas Re’s stake sale in Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad, where Terryn is currently CRO and country man, according to Reinsurance News.
