Canada trade surplus widens for a fourth straight month in June
The surplus grew to C$3.9 billion in June from C$3.7 billion in May, as a weaker Canadian dollar lifted export receipts by month on month.
Canada’s trade balance moved deeper into surplus in June, widening for a fourth consecutive month to C$3.9 billion from C$3.7 billion in the prior month, according to Action Forex.
The outlet said the month’s weaker Canadian dollar provided a modest boost to trade values, with export receipts rising while the Canadian-dollar cost of imports increased.
Exports rose 0.4% month on month in June, continuing a recent streak of improvement in the trade data, Action Forex added.
