Japan seeks U.S. help for coordinated yen intervention

Japan previously intervened to support the yen, but the effort had limited impact, prompting a coordinated approach with the United States.

Japan is pursuing a coordinated effort with the United States to support the yen after recent steps failed to meaningfully stabilize the currency, according to CNBC World.

CNBC World reports that Japan had intervened in the past to prop up the weakening yen with little effect, and then brought in the U.S. to stage a joint intervention.

The plan reflects an attempt to improve the effectiveness of currency-market intervention by aligning support between the two countries, the outlet said.
