Orion180 launches private residential flood insurance in California
The policy provides up to $1 million in building coverage and can begin as soon as 10 days after purchase, using third-party flood mapping for pricing.
Orion180 Insurance has launched Residential Private Flood Insurance in California, expanding beyond coverage tied to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), according to Coverager.
The product offers up to $1 million in building coverage, with waiting periods as short as 10 days, and includes coverage across X, A, and V flood zones.
Orion180 said the policy also covers items such as loss of use, replacement-cost personal property, water backup and sump pump overflow, swimming pool cleanup, and debris removal.
The insurer attributed its pricing approach to underwriting that uses third-party flood mapping and property-level risk analysis, rather than relying only on FEMA flood maps, and said flooding is becoming more serious for homeowners across California, including areas not traditionally viewed as high risk.
