Trump Media launches paid Truth API for real-time market-moving posts
The service, aimed at high-frequency and algorithmic traders, is expected to be available to institutional customers on August 1 and could cost up to $100,000 per month for fast access, according to a Financial Times estimate.
BBC Business reports that Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) has launched a paid data feed called Truth API, designed to give Wall Street firms real-time access to Truth Social's most influential accounts in milliseconds. The company says the feed provides access to posts from the highest-ranking Truth Social accounts, and while it has not confirmed whether it includes the president's own account, the president is the platform's most followed user, with about 13 million followers, making his posts potentially among the most market-moving. The move has raised legal and ethical concerns, including whether a company with the president's family as majority shareholder should profit from information tied to his own public statements, as teams of traders and automated systems monitor presidential remarks for rapid trading decisions. Truth API was expected to become available to institutional customers on August 1. BBC Business notes that the Financial Times has reported customers could be charged as much as $100,000 a month for high-speed access, though TMTG has not confirmed the figure, and the company says it expects the service to create steady revenue despite being currently loss-making.
