Nvidia shares jump as Musk says SpaceX will use its chips exclusively
The move comes as Elon Musk said SpaceX expects more than 2 gigawatts of compute this year and close to 10 gigawatts by the end of next year.
Nvidia shares rose more than 4% after Elon Musk said SpaceX will build its AI services exclusively on Nvidia systems, according to Yahoo Finance. Musk made the comments during SpaceX's first-ever earnings call and characterized Nvidia as its preferred architecture partner.
Musk said SpaceX expects to end the year with more than 2 gigawatts of compute, with computing capacity approaching 10 gigawatts by the end of next year. He also pointed to Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 rackscale system, saying the company plans to launch it both on the ground and in space as part of its Starmind satellite program.
Yahoo Finance added that SpaceX's Al revenues climbed 213% quarter over quarter and 247% versus the same period last year to $2.6 billion, citing cloud service agreements and higher Grok and X subscriptions. The company also described multibillion-dollar leasing agreements with Google and Anthropic to rent out SpaceX data center capacity for their AI services.
