UWM posts Q2 loss and announces $2.05B preferred equity deal
UWM also suspended its common dividend to prioritize debt reduction after reporting a $451.9 million net loss in Q2 2026.
UWM Holdings Corp. reported $39.7 billion in Q2 2026 mortgage originations but swung to a $451.9 million net loss, even as its gain-on-sale margin rose to 133 basis points.
HousingWire reports the net loss was largely driven by a quarter-specific, hedge-related mark-to-market impact tied to an anticipated Two Harbors MSR transaction, rather than reflecting UWM’s core business strength.
Alongside its earnings, UWM announced a $2.05 billion preferred equity and warrant capital partnership with Oaktree, plus a $400 million rights offering, a move that the company linked to raising permanent capital and deleveraging.
The lender said it would suspend its common dividend to prioritize debt reduction and balance-sheet strength, citing equity that nearly halved to $985.3 million over the past year and non-funding leverage that more than tripled to 6.13 times.
