Digital Asset Market Clarity Act fate uncertain ahead of Senate recess

CoinDesk says the bill has two days left in session, with staff still negotiating parts including illicit finance, agriculture issues, and an ethics provision.

The U.S. Senate has not indicated whether it will advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, as lawmakers approach their summer recess with only two days left in session, according to CoinDesk. CoinDesk reports that several paths remain possible, including taking up the bill after returning in September, extending work past the scheduled August 7 session end date to hold a procedural vote, or letting the window close for 2026. The report says some provisions of the Clarity Act are still being negotiated, including measures tied to illicit finance and agriculture issues, as well as an ethics provision intended to prevent senior government officials such as President Donald Trump from profiting from the crypto industry.
