Intel builds base after closing above 100-day moving average

The stock is also positioned around a pending test at the 50-day moving average after closing above the 100-day level on Aug. 4.

Intel shares are being watched as the company builds a new chart base following a broader sell-off in chip stocks, with traders focused on technical levels after the stock closed above the 100-day moving average on Aug. 4. Intel’s 100-day close marked its first finish above that level since July 24, and the next key reference point is the 50-day moving average.

According to Yahoo Finance, Intel is trading around $99.56, after reaching a June 22 record high of $140.94. The article ties the market attention to improving fundamentals, including Intel’s claim that it posted its strongest revenue growth rate in 15 years in the second quarter.

Yahoo Finance also highlights that Intel’s foundry business is continuing to improve, with foundry segment sales rising 30.5% year over year. The coverage notes that the U.S. government took an equity stake in Intel through a deal in August 2025, converting previously awarded CHIPS Act and Secure Enclave funding into an $8.9 billion investment in Intel common stock.

The federal stake under the agreement gives the government a 9.9% nonvoting ownership interest, with total federal commitment reaching $11.1 billion including earlier CHIPS Act payments, the article says. Analysts cited by Yahoo Finance include Goldman Sachs, which expects Intel to benefit from rising server demand, and Stifel, which reiterated a Hold view citing that a key external foundry customer catalyst had not yet arrived.
