Persimmon raises full-year outlook, targets 12,500 homes by year-end

Persimmon reported first-half pre-tax profits of £168 million and said profits were already up 15% while it expects additional inflationary pressure in 2027.

UK housebuilder Persimmon lifted its outlook for the full year, saying it is well positioned to benefit from prime minister Andy Burnham’s housing agenda despite rising costs tied to the Iran war, according to the Guardian Business.

The company said it aims to complete 12,500 new homes by year-end, putting the target at the upper end of its prior guidance. Persimmon also reported pre-tax profits up 15% for the first six months of the year to £168 million, alongside a 13% rise in the number of homes built over the same period.

Persimmon said conditions remain challenging, with building costs higher and many consumers still struggling to afford homes. It added that cost pressures are likely to grow, expecting additional inflationary pressure in 2027 linked to conflict in the Middle East.

The firm said it is taking management actions to secure further cost savings, including procurement savings, specification optimisation, house-type design, overhead savings, and operational efficiencies. The company also pointed to rising optimism in the UK construction sector, citing S&P Global data that flagged hopes of a rebound in domestic economic conditions.
