Putin signs crypto law allowing regulated retail trading in Russia
The law permits crypto trading for retail investors but keeps a ban on using crypto to buy goods and services inside Russia, while allowing cross-border settlement use.
President Vladimir Putin has signed a new crypto law in Russia that would allow regulated retail trading of digital assets in the country, according to The Block.
The law maintains restrictions on payments, continuing to ban the use of crypto to pay for goods and services within Russia.
At the same time, it allows crypto use for cross-border settlements, creating a separate framework from domestic payment activity.
The Block reports that the overall approach distinguishes between retail trading rules and limited permitted uses for international settlement purposes.
