SpaceX lockup ends as Google reshuffles AI leadership
SpaceX is set to see about 900 million employee and early investor shares unlock, while Alphabet changes AI executives including DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis.
SpaceX stock faces renewed volatility as employee and early investor lockup shares are scheduled to unlock on Thursday, with roughly 900 million shares held for that group set to become available. The move comes after the stock slid below its IPO price of $135, according to Yahoo Finance.
Yahoo Finance also noted that SpaceX shares rose in early trading after steep declines following the company’s earnings on Tuesday, underscoring how the unlock event may influence near term sentiment.
On the AI front, Yahoo Finance reported that Google is reshuffling its leadership. Alphabet said DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis is transitioning to a new role as chair of DeepMind and chief scientist for all of Alphabet, while DeepMind CTO and Google chief AI architect Koray Kavukcuoglu will become senior vice president for DeepMind and report directly to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai.
The company is also losing chief scientist Jeff Dean, who is founding a new company called Discovery Loop with Google senior fellow Sanjay Ghemawat, per Yahoo Finance.
