DoorDash launches DoorDash Air after FAA approval for commercial drones
The drone program follows DoorDash reporting nearly $13.7 billion in fiscal 2025 revenue, and it said it will still work with partners Wing and Flytrex while building its own aircraft.
DoorDash launched DoorDash Air after clearing a Federal Aviation Administration certification to fly commercial drone deliveries across the US, signaling the company wants more control over how food and goods move, not just who delivers them, according to Yahoo Finance.
DoorDash Labs, the company’s robotics and autonomy unit, built the in-house program from the ground up, and DoorDash said it is adding the capability rather than replacing existing delivery methods that blend human couriers, Dot sidewalk robots, and outside autonomous operators.
The company also plans to keep working with drone partners Wing and Flytrex even as it develops its own aircraft. DoorDash connects more than a million merchants across 40 countries, and it has expanded beyond restaurants into grocery and retail, including deals with Dollar Tree and AutoParts.com, the outlet reported.
Financially, DoorDash said fiscal 2025 revenue was nearly $13.7 billion, up about 27.9% year over year, with net income of roughly $935 million. The company reported a debt-to-equity ratio near 0.3x and a current ratio around 1.4x, while also noting that stock-based compensation made up about 43.2% of operating cash flow and that it did not provide a timeline for DoorDash Air reaching paying customers.
