ECB releases consolidated banking data for EU at end-March 2026
The dataset covers 335 banking groups and 2,284 stand-alone credit institutions and non-EU subsidiaries and branches, representing nearly all EU banking sector assets.
The European Central Bank has published consolidated banking data for the EU banking system as at end-March 2026, on a group consolidated basis, to support analysis of the sector’s performance and risk profile, including profitability and efficiency, liquidity and funding, and asset quality.
The quarterly dataset covers reporting by 335 banking groups and 2,284 stand-alone credit institutions and non-EU controlled subsidiaries and branches operating in the EU, and it accounts for nearly 100% of the EU banking sector’s balance sheet, with aggregates and indicators published for the reporting population.
The ECB said the figures follow reporting practices under International Financial Reporting Standards and the European Banking Authority’s supervisory reporting technical standards, though some smaller reporters may use national accounting standards depending on data availability.
For end-March 2026, the publication also includes a few revisions to past data, and the ECB noted it used proxy figures for Denmark for certain quarter calculations due to Q1 2026 data being unavailable at the time of publication.
