ECB releases consolidated banking data for end-March 2026

The dataset covers 335 banking groups and 2,284 standalone credit institutions in the EU, using IFRS and some national accounting where needed, and includes revisions to select past figures.

The European Central Bank has published consolidated banking data as of end-March 2026, providing quarterly information on the EU banking system compiled on a group consolidated basis.

The release covers 335 banking groups and 2,284 stand-alone credit institutions and non-EU controlled subsidiaries and branches operating in the EU, representing nearly 100% of the EU banking sector’s balance sheet.

The quarterly dataset is designed to support analysis of profitability and efficiency, balance sheet composition, liquidity and funding, asset quality, asset encumbrance, and capital adequacy and solvency, with aggregates and indicators published for the reporting population.

The ECB said the figures generally follow International Financial Reporting Standards and the European Banking Authority’s supervisory reporting technical standards, while some smaller and medium-sized reporters may use national accounting standards. The publication also includes a few revisions to past data, and it relied on proxy inputs for Denmark because Q1 2026 data were unavailable at the time of publication.
