Palantir surges after fiscal 2026 second-quarter results top expectations

Palantir’s revenue rose 93% year over year to $1.94 billion, driving a 29.5% intraday jump on Aug. 4.

Palantir Technologies shares jumped sharply after the company reported fiscal 2026 second-quarter results that beat expectations, triggering a 29.5% intraday gain on Aug. 4, according to Yahoo Finance.

The outlet reported that Palantir’s revenue climbed 93% year over year to $1.94 billion as commercial growth accelerated. It also highlighted that Palantir’s CEO Alex Karp has pointed to the company’s sovereign AI approach as a key tailwind amid rising AI costs.

Yahoo Finance said Palantir’s strategy focuses on data control, with Karp arguing that enterprises should not have to hand over sensitive data to creators of large language models. The article also noted the company’s entire business has nearly doubled over the past 12 months.

Despite the strong quarter, Yahoo Finance said the stock remains down 10.4% year to date and 8.1% over the past 52 weeks, attributing part of the underperformance to premium valuation levels that investors may be reluctant to keep paying. The piece also cited Palantir’s forward-adjusted price-to-earnings (non-GAAP) ratio of 103.1 times as well above industry levels.
