Santam Syndicate 1918 names Atang Matebesi chief commercial officer
The Santam Group received final Lloyd’s approval in December 2025 for the syndicate to start underwriting from 1 January 2026.
Santam Syndicate 1918, a Lloyd’s syndicate within the Santam Group, has appointed Atang Matebesi as its Chief Commercial Officer, the company said.
According to Reinsurance News, the syndicate is set to begin underwriting from 1 January 2026 after the Santam Group received final approval from Lloyd’s in December 2025.
Matebesi brings leadership experience across insurance and related finance functions, and he has served since 2023 as CEO of Santam Client Solutions, where he led a turnaround over the past three years while driving group-wide initiatives, the outlet said.
The appointment also follows the syndicate adding two experienced London Market professionals to its underwriting team in July 2026, Reinsurance News added.
