Nokia expands AI-native network software with Taiwan Mobile
The deployment covers four AI applications and next-generation baseband and radio hardware, targeting faster uplink and higher network capacity for AI traffic.
Nokia is rolling out its AirScale portfolio and AI-driven network software across Taiwan Mobile’s network under a 5G expansion agreement signed in mid-July, as the company pushes its AI-native mobile infrastructure strategy, according to Yahoo Finance.
The deal is structured around four distinct AI applications, including Nokia’s AI for Network software, Predictive Hardware Analytics, and MantaRay SON self-organizing network tools for automating operations and enabling real-time closed-loop network assurance.
Nokia said the rollout also includes next-generation baseband and radio hardware aimed at boosting capacity and uplink performance for AI-driven traffic, along with AI-powered energy management to support Taiwan Mobile’s sustainability targets and AI-enabled self-healing for resilience during outages.
Yahoo Finance also noted that generative AI traffic is already driving more than twice as much uplink data as ordinary mobile use, and Nokia expects its AI-RAN spectral efficiency improvement to rise from an initial 20% higher level to 50% next year and 100% by 2028.
