SBI Q1FY27 profit beats estimates, shares hit record intraday high

State Bank of India posted Q1FY27 standalone net profit of ₹21,121 crore, with net interest income rising to ₹46,992 crore and domestic NIM reaching 3.0%.

State Bank of India reported first-quarter results for the financial year 2026-27, with standalone net profit of ₹21,121 crore, exceeding market estimates by about 8.4%, according to LiveMint Markets. The bank’s Q1FY27 PAT was ₹21,120 crore, up 7.3% quarter-on-quarter and 10.2% year-on-year.

The earnings growth was supported by higher net interest income, which rose 14.88% year-on-year to ₹46,992 crore, and an increase in operating profit to ₹33,529 crore, up 9.77% year-on-year. LiveMint Markets also noted that SBI’s Whole Bank net interest margin rose by 5 basis points quarter-on-quarter to 2.86%, while domestic NIM increased by 7 basis points quarter-on-quarter to 3.00%.

The bank reported return on assets of 1.11% and return on equity of 17.87%. After the results announcement, SBI shares briefly climbed to a new intraday high of ₹1,124.50 on the NSE before closing at ₹1,097, up more than 1% from the previous close.

LiveMint Markets reported that net advances grew 18% year-on-year, led by growth across SME, corporate, and agri segments. The bank also guided for advanced growth of 14-15% for FY27, and said it expects FY27 NIM of around 3.0%, after repricing its T-bill rate and working to increase the share of MCLR loans. SBI mobilised about US$6bn of FCNR(B) deposits and US$1.3bn of overseas borrowings, taking total overseas funding to about US$7.3bn, with expected FCNR(B) mobilisation of around US$10bn during the scheme.
