Xanadu reports 75% jump in lithium niobate fabrication and 0.085 dB loss
The quantum hardware company said it has $312.8 million in cash plus $67.2 million from ATM proceeds to support faster roadmap spending.
Xanadu, a quantum computing hardware company, said it accelerated chip production progress in its latest quarterly update as investors look for additional catalysts in the push for scalable quantum systems. The company reported an average edge-coupling loss of 0.085 dB per facet, citing improvements tied to its advanced photonic chip-packaging facility and support including customized fiber and fiber-array work with Corning, plus wafer singulation support from DISCO.
In its update, Xanadu said fabrication activity increased, with thin-film lithium niobate output up 75% and silicon nitride fabrication up 50%. It also stated the aggregate optical-loss gap has narrowed by up to 200x over roughly four years, with an additional 5-10x reduction still needed to reach the threshold for scalable fault-tolerant performance.
The company linked the higher wafer throughput to faster “qubit-factory” iteration and said the edge-coupling improvement is one component-level milestone among multiple loss contributors across a full end-to-end system. It emphasized that lowering coupling loss matters more as chips and modules are connected, while broader fault-tolerance readiness still depends on reducing losses across other areas it cited, including qubit generation and detector efficiency.
On funding, Xanadu said it has $312.8 million in cash and $67.2 million of ATM proceeds, which it said supports faster roadmap investment. The update added that PennyLane expanded through QROM and includes work such as Frontier, Lockheed Martin training, and bank engagements, though it said monetization remains early.
