Brazil to add 24-hour wait for crypto transfers to self-custody
The rule will take effect Jan. 1, 2027, and apply to cryptocurrencies including fiat-backed stablecoins.
Brazil is tightening controls on crypto fraud by adding a mandatory 24-hour waiting period on transfers to self-custody wallets, according to The Block.
The change is set to begin on Jan. 1, 2027, and it is intended to slow down certain transfer flows that regulators associate with fraud risk.
The new requirement will cover cryptocurrencies including fiat-backed stablecoins.
