Iran says it is not negotiating with the US currently
Iran said it is exchanging messages only via intermediaries, and it pointed to constructive talks only with Oman as markets weigh expectations around the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s foreign ministry said there are currently no negotiations with the United States, while the sides are only exchanging messages via intermediaries, according to Forexlive.
The ministry also said negotiations are taking place with Oman only, characterizing them as constructive and positive, a stance that may temper expectations for any wider progress in the broader standoff.
Forexlive notes the comments set the tone for any hopes related to Oman and reopening a temporary arrangement tied to the Strait of Hormuz, but emphasized there is still no indication of how any such step would connect to nuclear or uranium talks.
The outlet added that, even during the three weeks of a prior ceasefire arrangement, nuclear discussions did not begin, leaving uncertainty over what may happen if Iran authorizes changes related to the strait.
