Long Cast Advisers touts Pro-Dex amid Zimmer mBos commercialization focus
The investor letter says Long Cast Advisers saw its Q2 2026 results improve 20%, lifting year-to-date returns to +19%.
Long Cast Advisers, an independent registered investment adviser, released its Q2 2026 investor letter, highlighting stronger results in the quarter and continued focus on small and micro-cap equities.
The firm reported earnings improving 20% in Q2, bringing year-to-date returns to +19%. While performance trailed the Russell 2000 and the iShares US MicroCap ETF, it remained ahead of the iShares SmallCap EAFE (ex-N. Am) ETF, and the letter says cumulative returns since inception in 2015 total 343%, or 15% compound annual growth rate.
In the letter, Long Cast Advisers pointed to Pro-Dex, Inc. (NASDAQ: PDEX) as part of its positioning, describing the company as a global medical device firm that makes powered surgical instruments for medical device OEMs. Pro-Dex shares closed on August 7, 2026 at $65.56 per share, the letter notes, with a one-month return of 7.88% and a gain of 72.87% over the past 52 weeks, according to the Yahoo Finance material.
Long Cast Advisers also framed its Pro-Dex pitch around an expectation of incremental operating benefits if Zimmer’s mBos robot moves toward commercialization. The letter discusses that Zimmer’s purchase of Monogram last year included contingent valuation rights that pay $3.41 per share in each year from 2028 to 2030 if mBos gross revenues exceed certain hurdles, and it estimates the number of systems needed, triangulating to an implied capital sale range of about $1 million per machine.
