Warm Home Discount could cut energy bills by £150 this winter

The government discount applies to households receiving means-tested benefits, including universal credit. BBC Business adds that it is intended for about six million households in the winter, and qualification also includes housing benefit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, and Pension Credit.
Households receiving the relevant benefits should get the discount automatically if their supplier has more than 1,000 customers, but the rebate may not be applied if names are missing due to a recent move, or for people on pre-payment meters who must have their household account registered in their name. BBC Business also notes that the discount can help suppliers extend support such as repayment plans to customers with energy debt.
