Airbnb shares jump after second-quarter results beat expectations
Revenue rose to $3.61 billion year over year, and EPS of $1.37 topped the $1.25 analyst estimate.
Airbnb shares surged 17.43% on Friday, August 7, after the travel platform posted stronger-than-expected second-quarter results. The stock closed at $178.07, its highest level since April 2022.
According to Yahoo Finance, Airbnb reported second-quarter revenue of $3.61 billion, up from $3.1 billion a year earlier, beating the $3.58 billion consensus estimate. Earnings per share came in at $1.37, above analysts' expected $1.25.
While the earnings beat helped fuel investor sentiment, the size of the move may leave less room for further near-term optimism, given the stock's valuation after the rally. Yahoo Finance noted the average analyst price target is $172.17, with Friday's close about 3.32% above that level, which could shift focus to whether future growth can support the higher price.
