Silence Therapeutics shares surge ahead of divesiran Phase 2 readout call

The Phase 2 SANRECO study enrolled 48 patients, targeting a hematocrit control endpoint without phlebotomy between weeks 18 and 36.

Silence Therapeutics shares jumped 16.2% in pre-market trading on Monday as investors moved ahead of a conference call and webcast on the company’s Phase 2 results for divesiran, its lead siRNA candidate for polycythemia vera. The biotech said the call covering topline outcomes from its Phase 2 SANRECO trial is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. EDT, and the readout is a key near-term milestone that management previously flagged as potentially defining for the program and the company’s next steps. According to Yahoo Finance, the Phase 2 study enrolled 48 patients with phlebotomy-dependent polycythemia vera in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design. Divesiran was tested on two dosing schedules, every six weeks or every 12 weeks, with the primary endpoint measuring the proportion of patients able to maintain hematocrit below 45% without requiring phlebotomy between weeks 18 and 36. Yahoo Finance also noted investor expectations have been influenced by earlier Phase 1 findings, where the number of required phlebotomy procedures dropped from 80 during the six months before treatment to five during the active treatment period, with effects continuing beyond the final dose. Divesiran has also received Fast Track and Orphan Drug designations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, while broader market moves remained modest, with the Nasdaq up about 0.4% and the S&P 500 gaining roughly 0.1%.
