CME is taking steps to turn AI computing power into a tradable product, launching two compute futures contracts in the coming weeks. The contracts are set for an Oct. 5 start, pending regulatory review, CNBC reports.

CME is partnering with Silicon Data for the initiative, according to CNBC. The effort is designed to create futures exposure tied to AI compute, positioning the asset class for trading rather than only spot or infrastructure spending.
