Intel to sell shares to raise $15 billion for AI and factory spending

The planned offering would dilute existing shareholders, with Intel set to sell about 153 million shares based on Monday’s roughly $98 close.

Intel plans to raise $15 billion by selling new shares, a move aimed at funding its factories, equipment, day to day operations, and other needs as its AI comeback accelerates, according to Yahoo Finance. The company said the funds will support ongoing investment and broader business requirements tied to its AI ambitions.

Intel’s stock rally this year has made the financing push possible, with shares up about 165% in 2026, Yahoo Finance reported. The article also notes Intel has lessened its reliance on capital markets compared with prior periods, even as it has fallen about 31% from its June 22 record, erasing more than $200 billion in market value.

The share sale is expected to come with dilution, meaning each existing share represents a smaller portion of the company after the new issuance. Based on Monday’s close of roughly $98, Intel would need to sell about 153 million shares to reach $15 billion, Yahoo Finance said.

Intel is also increasing spending for long term investments this year to about $20 billion, the article added. Yahoo Finance said the planned stock sale alone equals about three quarters of that spending plan, while Intel has not specified whether all proceeds will go specifically to construction or AI compute initiatives.
