Barça Mobile in-app wallet to use Wirex, Crossmint and Stellar
The wallet is planned as an integrated feature inside the Barça Mobile app, built for connectivity, payments, loyalty and travel services rather than a standalone product.
FC Barcelona’s official mobile telecom service, Barça Mobile, is developing an in-app digital wallet using infrastructure from Wirex, Crossmint and the Stellar Development Foundation, New Era Visionary Group said Aug. 5, according to The Defiant.
Under the plan, Wirex is set to provide payment and card infrastructure for future wallet-linked payment features, Crossmint will deliver wallet infrastructure and user onboarding technology, and Stellar will supply the blockchain network layer.
New Era described the effort as development, with the wallet functioning as an integrated feature of the existing Barça Mobile app instead of launching a separate product or a new business line.
The announcement also linked the wallet concept to Barça Mobile’s connectivity focus, referencing the service’s earlier eSIM launch, which offers internet connectivity in more than 170 countries, and noting the app’s U.S. App Store listing describes it as a travel eSIM app.
