Italy inflation eases slightly in July as core stays steady
Italy’s core annual inflation held at 1.6% in July, while services prices ticked up to 2.7% and unregulated energy and unprocessed food cooled.
Italy’s headline annual inflation for July was confirmed to ease only marginally from June, with unregulated energy prices slowing from 13.3% to 11.4%, unprocessed food cooling from 4.4% to 3.6%, and miscellaneous services dropping from 2.5% to 1.8.
The report also showed regulated energy prices accelerating from 9.2% to 14.8%, alongside a rise in transport-related services from 1.1% to 1.6%.
On the core measure, annual inflation was seen keeping steady at 1.6% in July, with goods prices slowing slightly to 3.2% and services prices accelerating to 2.7%.
Forexlive said the mixed inflation picture leaves the ECB facing pressure in parts of the euro area, where core price dynamics are described as staying “hot” in Germany and Spain even as countries like France and Italy remain closer to a “sweet spot,” with the Middle East conflict adding uncertainty for potential policy action in September.
