Karoline Leavitt to leave White House press secretary role at month’s end

President Donald Trump said Leavitt would depart as she returns for a new role after stepping away following the birth of her second child in May.

Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary and the youngest person to hold the role, will leave at month’s end, President Donald Trump announced, according to SCMP Economy. Trump described Leavitt as one of his most trusted aides in a social media post announcing the departure.

Leavitt, 28, recently returned to the White House after taking brief leave for the birth of her second child in May, a daughter. She also has a two-year-old son.

In a post accompanying the announcement, Leavitt said she decided to step down because she felt she could not be the best mom to her two young children while devoting the constant time and attention required by the press secretary job.

SCMP Economy reported that Leavitt has been one of the most visible advocates of Trump’s Make America Great Again movement.
