Rokstone adds supply chain disruption cover to Athena Cyber
The new extension is backed by $10 million of A-rated Lloyd’s capacity and targets cyber incidents at customers or suppliers that interrupt an insured’s operations.
Rokstone, the international specialty re/insurance MGA, expanded its Athena Cyber proposition with a new extension aimed at covering supply chain disruption tied to cyber incidents affecting an insured’s customers or suppliers.
The cover is designed for losses that arise when a third party cyber incident interrupts an insured’s ability to operate, or impacts a key customer’s ability to buy goods or services, and it differs from traditional contingency business interruption insurance by focusing on disruption across the insured’s wider commercial network.
Rokstone said the extension responds to incidents beyond an organization’s own systems that nonetheless have a direct impact on its business, as companies face rising exposure to cyber events in interconnected supply chains.
The MGA cited research showing 61% of organizations have experienced a supply chain breach, and almost a third of affected organizations reported operational disruption, financial losses or regulatory fines. The expansion also highlighted past high-profile cases, including an attack on Jaguar Land Rover, and said the offering is one of only two comparable products currently available in the market.
